Funeral Balloon Release

Balloon releases are becoming more popular as a visual expression of love for the one who has passed.  This growing trend serves as a final act of tribute.  In addition, this ceremony becomes a source of comfort, inspiration and a tangible way for individuals to express themselves in saying good-bye.

Releases are normally done at the end of the service to symbolize letting go of the loved one and letting the grieving process begin.  Before releasing the balloon one may give it

a kiss, say a prayer, look up at the sky, or write a personal message on the balloon. When released into the air, each person will have a different experience as they let go of their balloon.  Sounds of gasping, tears or sighs of relief may be heard. That final moment of emotional bonding for the entire group young or old will assure the healing process to begin.  As the balloons are slowly drifting upward it leaves all involved with a peace and a memory that will last a lifetime.

You can have someone hand out the balloons or we can be there to hand them out to your attendee's for a fee of $25.00

Balloon releases are becoming very popular for memorial and funeral services.  Often a card is tied to the string with a personal message on it and released along with the balloon.  For balloon releases we offer latex balloons which are biodegradable and instead of the typical curling ribbon we offer 100 per cent cotton string which is also biodegradable.  We use Qualatex brand latex balloons they are made from a 100 per cent natural substance that breaks down both in sunlight and water and should never be confused with plastic. The degradation process begins almost immediately after a balloon is manufactured. Oxidation, the "frosting" that makes latex balloons look as if they are losing their colour, is one of the first signs of the process. Exposure to sunlight quickens the process, but natural microorganisms attack natural rubber, even in the dark.

Research shows that under similar environmental conditions, latex balloons will biodegrade at about the same rate as a leaf from an oak tree. The actual total degradation time will vary depending on the precise conditions.
